



Modula Beta is an expressive family of decorative fonts based on the exploration of modular geometry, layering, and optical illusions in typography. The family consists of four complementary weights designed specifically to be layered and typed directly over one another.
The core building blocks of each letter are geometric shapes that, when precisely combined and layered, construct a cuboid in axonometric three-dimensional perspective. The true potential and dynamism of the typeface are unlocked through the use of color—by rendering individual layers in different shades, the interplay of shapes creates highly striking 3D effects and an illusion of physical depth. Modula Beta operates as a modular creative tool, where endless combinations of layering and color allow designers to generate bold, versatile, and visually engaging spatial solutions in contemporary graphic design.
The project was created in 2003 under the mentorship of Prof. Lucijan Bratuš. Despite the time that has passed, the concept and its visual execution have lost none of their modern usability, systematic sophistication, or powerful expressiveness, proving the timeless nature of modular typographic experiments.
