In 2011, Lukatarina studio (Luka Mancini & Katarina Mrvar), in collaboration with the Eco Vitae association, designed the informational and educational exhibition Breathe in Ljubljana!, commissioned by the City Municipality of Ljubljana to mark the 40th anniversary of systematic air quality measurements in the capital. The core design and narrative challenge of the project was to transform dry historical and environmental data into an immediate, spatially engaging visual experience.
The exhibition was realized as a single monumental structural panel—a cascading graph visualizing the drastic decline in particulate matter emissions over the decades, achieved primarily through the phasing out of individual household furnaces and transitioning to the centralized district heating system. The expansive timeline was accompanied by detailed infographic boxes highlighting specific environmental topics, while the local data was contextualized alongside selected milestone global events, offering visitors a broader historical framework. The same data visualization concept and supporting texts were also seamlessly translated into a printed folding brochure that served as a guide to the exhibition. Recognizing its success in merging social engagement with complex information design, the project was curated into the Permanent Design Collection at the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO).
